Where Mother Hinde believes that her child, the AI, holds the light of the world within its code, and the alternative path for humanity within its lost data, Shadow sees something different. For every beam of light, there is a void that contains the darkness.

The universe requires balance, two sides to a coin, an equilibrium that holds everything together. The metaverse is no different. The light that Mother Hinde seeks within the metaverse has its own opposite. The shadows of the construct are vast in reach and iron dark.

It takes a special breed of hacker, a rare coder to venture into these shadows, to look for that opposite, to reach out and engage that evil, the malevolence that lingers in the deepest parts of the constructs void. Hence, we have Shadow.

A child of the Triangle, born blind and without the money or resources for cybernetic eye replacements, he talked to the surrounding machines while the humans that were his parents abused him. He went dark; he went down into the depths of the metaverse to escape the horror of the meatworld, the brutal reality of what was happening to him outside of the construct.

With this pale appearance, his white orb eyes look through people and into machines; Mother hasn’t given him new ones yet, instead feeding him Shroom to bring him closer to the demons within the metaverse, to take him deeper, into those places where others fear treading.
