The institutions and establishments of Old Europa were structures of immense power, yet they still helped maintain a modicum of democracy and freedom for the populace. These bodies were not so easily going to let go of those powers after the Black Lake Incident destroyed it all.
After the old world fell into the destruction caused by the Lincoln Contingency. After the cold hard slag from the Core Techs war had solidified and the new world of the NEO-Budapest Triangle rose. The old world fought for every inch. Each of these institutions of that past place held onto whatever they could. They battled with the new factions and powers day and night to position themselves in a place of privilege and strength.
The Osiris Ministry, the main governing body of the Triangle, the Technocracy that rose out of the ashes, maintains its power across the new world in multiple ways. Providing the facade of justice is just one of these. The pinnacle of this facade reigns the Court of Osiris. The supreme justice dispensing institution within the Triangle. This where citizens that still somehow exist outside of the factions try to find a semblance of hope, of justice, when out of all other options.
Judge Contrent sits at the head Bench of the Court of Osiris, presiding over this world and dispensing law as he sees fit. On the face, he maintains he is a champion of the people. An advocate of the few rights they have left. One to maintain law and order in this world ravaged by the likes of the Kings and in the grip of families like the Gilchrists. Those who have faced him, who have come to him for justice, know differently.
Contrent prioritises serving the interests of the powerful elite. His interest is only in maintaining the status quo, using his knowledge of the law to manipulate proceedings. He ensures outcomes that favour his own agenda, while disregarding the rights and well-being of the common citizens.
He is a man of the elite, rather than the people. Draped in a dark, foreboding robe adorned with sinister circuit patterns, his appearance intimidates and subjugates those that cross him. His voice, tinged with a cold and calculated tone, instils a sense of hopelessness in those unfortunate enough to rely on him for justice.
